What goes through someone’s head when they post something like this? They have to know it’s not going to end well.

Many are calling for Trent Bennett's resignation after the Arkansas teacher referred to Michelle Obama as “America’s First Chimp” on Facebook.

The post in question went up over the holidays. The full insult goes, “Michelle Obummer … America’s First Chimp.”

And Trent Bennett didn’t stop there. When civilized people started calling him out, the teacher responded, “Just good to see that nasty chimp and her spider monkey husband gone for good.”

No one’s spoken to Bennett except on social media – reporters tried to track him down at home but didn’t get an answer. Remember, it’s Christmas break for kids and educators alike, so Bennett is currently on vacation -- which he's decided to use for public racism.

His school system, however, isn’t having it. Even though they’re all on break, the district released a statement, calling the comments, “inappropriate, insensitive, and [using] racially charged rhetoric. In no way are these posts reflective of the District.

“The District is currently investigating the matter.”

On top of that, the President of the Arkansas State Conference of the NAACP sent an open letter to Bennett, calling for his immediate resignation. And, should he not step down, the letter threatens, “…we will do everything legally possible with all available resources to see that you are terminated or at the least resign due to you(r) actions, including rally and protest at School Board Meetings and other areas in your community.”

When school picks back up after the New Year, Bennett may just be out of a job. Do you think he should be fired or resign?
