Although it's 2017, Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey have quite a bit of history, dating all the way to last century. (Yes, we did just say last century.)
The two pop divas were owning the charts in the 90s and 2000s, and everything was all goooood, until Mariah claimed she "didn't know J. Lo." This small, possibly unintentional petty comment started a war between Lopez and Carey.
J. Lo was quick to clap back at Carey, telling Wendy Williams, “She’s forgetful, I guess! We’ve met many times. I don’t know… I don’t know her that well.”
Mariah then later went to explain what she really meant by that comment to Andy Cohen. “Apparently, I am forgetful. It wasn’t like I don’t know who she is - of course I do. That’s not the question… If I had never had a conversation with you and someone asked me about you, I’d be like, ‘I don’t know him but he seems cool,’ or ‘I don’t know him.”
That was supposed to be the end of their long-lived feud. Until Jenny From the Block decided to take it there again with some slight shade on the Gram of course, after Mariah's embarrassing New Years Eve performance:
Looks like Drizzy's boo thang has some explaining to do! Fans then attacked J. Lo's comment section with lamb emojis (Mariah's fans are called lambs), and called Lopez a hypocrite, considering she never sings live.
What happened to Mariah was obviously very unfortunate. Carey and her team believe it was nothing but sabotage for ratings, but Dick Clark's team has since denied that.
In the words of Mariah herself, "Shit happens!"
