Finally! Sisqo Explains To All Of Us What 'Dumps Like A Truck' Actually Means

The world had survived the great Y2K scare, learned the only rule of Fight Club and fell in love with a new animated family on Fox named the Griffins. We’d made it past 1999 and weren’t even too far into the new millennium when Sisqo dropped one of the most popular songs of the year.

“Thong Song” was everywhere and while it was released in the cold month of February, it was played the hell out all the way through Fall. The song was inescapable and brought large trunks into the limelight once again, but one question that still lingers about it all these years later is...what the hell does “She had dumps like a truck truck truck” even mean? Almost two decades later the singer spilled about what one of the most notable lines actually is all about.

Because everyone was dying to know, The Huffington Post’s Priscilla Frank sat down with Sisqo to talk about his #1 song from 17 years ago, and she asked the million dollar question about the lyric and here’s what he had to say, "What I was really referring to was ― a dump truck when it backs up, it’s like, ‘beep, beep beep. So, ‘she had dumps like a dump truck’ is, like, when girls do a booty dance move and they look back at their butt. She’s like a dump truck back-back-backing it up.”

So there you have it, it was all about comparing a larger than life backside to a dump truck. We get it, but is it as cool now that we know? Maybe some things are better left unsaid but at least if it ever comes up in a trivia contest - you’ll be able to score.

As for Sisqo, he was never really able to score a hit quite like “Thong Song” again, but with that track having such a strong nostalgic presence - he’s been able to stay afloat because of it. He dropped a new record a couple years ago, and even performs still. He was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! alongside Panic! At The Disco, and performed at 90s Fest in Ohio last September with Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Sister Hazel and the Spin Doctors.
