Bernie Proposes Cash Help Of $2,000 Per Household During Coronavirus Crisis

He proposed sustainance packages for families to help them tide through difficult times.

Coronavirus has well and truly made its presence felt in the most diabolical manner with the virus affecting almost every aspect of life from work to leisure. As more and more cases pile up and countries start taking drastic measures to prevent the spread of the deadly new virus, many people, especially low-income households and daily wage earners are facing the consequences most harshly.

There are a number of measures being proposed by those in power about ways of dealing with the situation and Bernie Sanders, too, proposed support packages for families to help them tide through the difficult times. The proposal he has in mind may cost $2 trillion but according to Bernie, it could also fend off the looming financial crisis.

Bernie said in his speech: "In this unprecedented moment, this will require an unprecedented amount of money. My own guess is that we’ll be spending two trillion dollars in funding to prevent deaths, job losses, and to avoid an economic catastrophe."

His proposal included Medicare For All, canceling student debt, guaranteed medical access for people with confimed Covid-19, economic relief for workers and small businesses, and homes for the shelter less as the pandemic still lingers on.

Bernie proposed that the National Guard and the Army Corp of Engineers should be roped in to help with the expansion of medical facilities and that the Defense Production Act be invoked to guarantee the production of necessities like the face mask.

He said he has proposed this "so that everybody regardless of their healthcare needs, and I’m not just talking about the coronavirus, will get all the healthcare that they need. That is what we should be doing in this moment of crisis."
