TMZ revealed their photos in an exclusive report.
Demi Lovato's performance at the Super Bowl was one to behold and she sang to perfection, mesmerizing the crowd and filling the entire stadium with a spirit of patriotism and sportsmanship. But it was Jay-Z and Beyonce who became the topic of discussion after TMZ released photos of the couple remaining seated during the singing of the anthem.
According to TMZ's exclusive report, they chose to remain seated along with their daughter while everyone around them could be seen standing. It has sparked great debate about the intentions or if they were trying to make a statement, which is not clear yet, but his partnership with the NFL and Kaepernick's story of taking a knee, three years ago, still loomed large.
The partnership of his entertainment company, Roc Nation, with the NFL meant that he had a say in picking the artists who could perform at the NFL events and many of his fans had criticized his involvement with the NFL as a betrayal to Kaepernick's stand.
In a recent interview with The New York Times, he has said that his association with the NFL was intended for the promotion of social justice and education. He said: "As long as real people are being hurt and marginalized and losing family members, then yes, I can take a couple rounds of negative press." He added: "No one is saying he hasn’t been done wrong. He was done wrong,” Jay-Z said. “I would understand if it was three months ago. But it was three years ago and someone needs to say, ‘What do we do now -- because people are still dying?"
Given such statements and his choice of being seated during the anthem, people are now wondering if his act was another statement in this saga or was there something else to it.
