Loni Love Claimed 'Black Women Don't Know How To Eat,' Faces Backlash

Loni Love made the statement on her talkshow, 'The Real.'

Loni Love was slammed hard for her statements that she made on her show 'The Real' while speaking about the eating habits of women in the African American community. As reported by NewsOne, she was talking about 'being an ambassador for the “reimagined” Weight Watchers' at the end of which she broke down.

She said, "Let me tell y’all, I did not know how to eat."  She then became emotional and talked about her own past saying, "Growing up in the projects, we just had to eat what we could." She continued: "I know it sounds funny, but a lot of women in the African American community, we don’t know how to eat because we grew up that way."

Her message ended with, "Thank you to WW [weight watchers] because we wanted to do this to help our brothers and sisters…everybody but especially I see ya’ll out there. I see ya’ll at my comedy shows and ya’ll like we need to get healthier and that’s the reason why we’re doing this just to make ya aware of what’s happening in the community. You can eat and not starve and you can still lose weight."

She may have meant well but the phrasing of her words riled up quite a few people who expressed their outrage at her comments on social media.
