Who's laughing now?
We often find stories of true determination in places we wouldn't look for. The story of Dr. Isaiah L. White, Sr. is one of those stories that shows how far you can go if you trust yourself and don't let the detractors define your future for you.
As reported by BlackNews, Dr. Isaiah graduated with a Doctorate degree from Wilmington University in New Castle, Delaware. As a kid, he was bullied and humiliated, even by his teachers, who had told him that he would amount to nothing. Facing a learning disability, dyslexia, he had to undergo education with special schools.
Dr. Isaiah wrote about his life in a book called In A Class Called Special, in which he wrote about the numerous disabilities including dyslexia, dyscalculia, audio processing disorder, visual impairment, and comprehension weakness which hindered his normal learning abilities. He was often frustrated because of this and often got suspended from school due to disruptive activities following his frustration.
If that wasn't hardship enough, he also talks about the times he was molested by 3 different people and how he contemplated suicide multiple times. In the end, however, he always chose to fight back rather than giving in.
Currently, he tours the country speaking to people and children about bullying and never giving up. In his series of books, The Dental Family, The Hygiene Family, The Breakfast Alert, The Morning Marchers, and The Battle of the Germs, he talks to children about the importance of self-care. Needless to say, his words resonate with his audience and his personal experience drives him to empower others in every way he can.
