Nicki Minaj Announces Retirement, Says She Wants To Focus On Having A Family

The 36-year-old shared her announcement on Twitter with a status that reads: "I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now."

Grammy-nominated singer, rapper and entertainer Nicki Minaj has announced her retirement, shifting her focus to start a family with boyfriend Kenneth Petty.  The 36-year-old shared her announcement on Twitter with a status that reads: "I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now."

Minaj, however, has not clarified what it is exactly she will be retiring from. The entertainer has also made an appearance in many Hollywood movies, so the announcement is speculation more than a confirmation.

The 'Chun-Lee' rapper released several mixtapes in the 2000s before being signed on to Lil Wayne's record label Young Money Entertainment. Minaj released her debut album 'Pink Friday' in 2010. Minaj would go on to establish herself as an entertainer to reckon with after a string of mega-hits like Super Bass, Starships, and Anaconda, cementing herself as one of the world's biggest female rappers.

But Minaj has been in a slump of late. The rapper's fourth studio album 'Queen' failed to make it to the top of the charts, which caused Minaj to viciously lash out at other entertainers. After a very public dissing about Spotify to even Travis Scott, Minaj called off her North-American tour with Future.

Minaj cited the lack of rehearsal time for her tour, but the rumor mill states that Minaj made the call after a slump in ticket sales.
