Oprah made the announcement at Morehouse College in Atlanta.
Oprah Winfrey is a star well-known for her generosity and she has decided to keep giving back more. As reported by NBCPhiladelphia, she would donate $13 million towards the scholarship endowments for a historically black college.
She was at Morehouse College in Atlanta where she had donated $12 million in 1989. According to the report, she was there meeting 47 students who were among the beneficiaries of her earlier contribution. She said: "I was really surprised to learn that it's been 30 years since I made that $12 million donation to Morehouse, so today, I'd like to add $13 million to that."
She had donated over $1.2 million just last month to United Negro College Fund at a North Carolina fundraiser. According to Morehouse President David Thomas, her earlier donation has helped more than 600 students over the past thirty years.
Earlier this year, Billionaire Robert Smith promised to repay all student and family loans accumulated by Morehouse's class of 2019. David Thomas was overjoyed with these contributions and said he was "feeling hopeful for Morehouse and what it has garnered in terms of philanthropic support with gifts like Oprah's and Robert Smith's. I am hopeful that this will also get others to step up with their support of Morehouse, but even more broadly, historically black colleges and universities."
