Serena Williams Wins Her First Title As A Mother And Donated All Her Winnings To Australia

Another example why she is a total legend!

It has been three years but Serena Williams is back and she marked her first title after becoming a mother with a grand gesture. Serena, who has won 7 of her 23 Grand Slam titles in Australia donated her entire winnings (about $43,000) to Australia for the fire-fighting efforts in that country.

Graceful as ever, she said: "I’ve been playing Australia for over 20 years and it’s been really hard for me to watch all the news and everything that’s been happening in Australia with all the fires and over a billion animals and people who have lost their homes. So I decided that I would donate all my prize money for a great cause."

Meanwhile, the Australian fires have shown little signs of relenting but people have been doing their bit to support the firefighters in their own way. Firefighters from America have reached there to support their Australian counterparts and celebrities from around the world are donating generously. Just last week, Lizzo, took part in voluntary efforts to help pack food for the people in need after pausing her tour in Australia.

The coming weeks could, however, bring some good news as there is a forecast of rain on the horizon and that could help the country battling bushfires in a major way.
