It was a bizarre thing to have happened.
When Trump decided to honor the hero dog, Conan, for his involvement in the Al-Baghdadi raid, he had no idea that he would create a curious case of gender identity for the dog. During his monologue, in honor of Conan, Trump referred to Conan as a 'he,' a male dog.
Later, a reporter noted in the press briefings that Conan, the dog, is actually female. The press release, says that "Conan Is A Good Girl."
Just in: #Conan, the hero dog from the al-Baghdadi raid, is in fact a GIRL, a US defense official tells ABC News. Yesterday, a WH official told the pool that Conan was a girl but later said the dog was actually a boy -- after POTUS & VPOTUS used male pronouns to refer to Conan.

Only a few hours had gone by that the press release changed again, this time it stated: "Conan Is A Good Boy Again"
🚨UPDATE: Two defense officials have now contacted us to say Conan is *for sure they say* a BOY. One official said they triple checked.

I guess the important thing here is that Conan, boy or girl, is a good dog who did excellent work with the US military.
The end. https://t.co/bSQJifnMxx
Apparently, they had to triple check! The important thing to remember, however, was the effort of this dog in aiding the special troops in the daring raid. And while it may not really matter if it is male or female (latest reports says male), it did give the officials a definite runaround.
