The First Black Surgeon In Beverly Hills Came To America With $200, Is Now Worth Over $8 Million

Michael K. Obeng, M.D., is a plastic surgeon and has a royal client list.

When Michael K. Obeng, M.D., came to America from Ghana, he had just $200 to his name and had to build his life from the age of 20. As reported by Black Enterprise, he worked hard and got himself educated in the top institutions like Midwestern State University, University of Texas Medical School, and Harvard University.

He developed his special skills and is widely considered a specialist in the field of cosmetic surgery, hand and neuromuscular surgery, and is an excellent surgeon when it comes to aging as well as complex reconstructive surgery. His personal practice, Miko Plastic Surgery, is located at 435 North Roxbury Drive in Beverly Hills and according to Black Business, he is one of the handfuls of surgeons in the world to have achieved reattaching a limb.

But his work is not only reserved for catering to the Hollywood royalties and millionaire celebrities, but he is also a philanthropist and has been involved in numerous humanitarian deeds. His not-for-profit organization 'R.E.S.T.O.R.E. Worldwide' provides free reconstructive services to many people in poor African countries and he is also the winner of the 2017 GUBA Humanitarian Spirit Award. A hero surgeon with a heart of gold, isn't he?
