She was in Baltimore to raise awareness about the opioid crisis when she was booed.
Melania Trump was visiting Baltimore with her 'Be Best' campaign and was at a youth summit about the opioid crisis in America when she faced a wave of boos from the audience who clearly showed their disdain towards the government's practices and her presence there as a mere photo opportunity. As reported by CNN, the attendees were primarily hospital employees who felt that it was just a show as more than 30% of the patients there don't even speak English as their first language.

The anger could also have stemmed from Trump's tweets, back in July, when he called Baltimore a "rat and rodent infested mess" referring to the late Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings' district. He had also tweeted that it was a place where "no human being would want to live."
Later, she talked to CNN and said: "We live in a democracy and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the fact is we have a serious crisis in our country and I remain committed to educating children on the dangers and deadly consequences of drug abuse."
Recently, Trump has been publicly booed at multiple events but this has been the first time that the first lady faced the ire of the crowd.
